B2. Optional Reflective Activity - Exploring your values
B2. Optional Reflective Activity - Exploring your values
Reflect on the key values of autonomy, doing good no harm and justice and what they mean to you. Identify how they are present (or not) in your research work/field and seek to critically examine how their integration has been achieved.
In this activity you can utilise your stakeholder list from Reflective Activity B1.1. (remember to include yourself as a stakeholder as well). In this exercise you may wish to focus on your key stakeholders.
Here are the suggested steps to take:
Firstly, have a look at your stakeholders and consider how your research may impact on their ability to make decisions (autonomy) either as part of the research process or in relation to sharing the results.
Secondly, you can consider the potential harm and benefit of your research to your stakeholders.
Thirdly, consider how justice is achieved for each stakeholder - is division of harm and benefit fair, is there fairness in how opportunities are shared or how people are treated when violations occur?
