    • B. Ethics in Research Planning


      The planning phase of all research projects invites every researcher to consider and explore potential ethical issues within the planned work. This section of the course explores first in subsection B1 the research context from the perspective of conflict of interest. In sections B2 and B3, the focus is planning for data collection and data management. Finally, in subsection B4 the focus is on ethical issues related to collaboration and cooperation.

      Learning outcomes for this section are:

        1. Recognise and analyse key research ethical questions in data management and working with others.
        2. Formulate ethical research plans and responses to ethical challenges by applying key ethical theories and approaches.
        3.  Recognise and understand key ethical principles guiding research.
        4. Understand the Finnish Responsible Conduct of Research guidelines and processes for applying for research licence or ethical review.
        5. Identify rights and responsibilities as a researcher
